GB Heavy Men
GB Team in a two week training camp. The heavy men are back in Avis preparing this very long season.

Fresh out the plane, the Dutch Men and Women’s squads including veteran Diedrik Simon under the direction of coach Rene Mijnders are just settling in for two weeks of intense training.
GB Lightweight and Women in Avis
With the worst of the winter weather gone, the Avizacqua training centre enters it’s busiest period of the year. with the arrival of some of its regular visiting National Squads and a a sprinkling on (older) new faces.
The Danish for the 2nd Camp
The Danish National Team is again in Aviz. The team came for the second camp in Aviz for this season.
Olaf - The Ambassador is at home
Olaf also arrived last weekend, joined by a team of young Norwegian hopefuls. Another of our ambassadors, it was his first time in the new hotel too.
The Danish back to Avizaqcua
It was with great pleasure that we welcomed back to Avis the Danish team, one of Avizaqua ambassadors. Although they are Avis “regulars”, this was their first time in the new hotel. Despite being tired from the journey and the lateness of the day, their spirits where all raised when the saw the hotel striking architecture and the gardens all lit up.
The GB team has started training in Avis
It’s with immense pride and pleasure that Avizacqua welcomes the most successful rowing team in the world. The GB squad arrived last Monday for a two week camp. The team was welcomed by glass like water conditions, sunshine and mild temperatures and couldn’t wait to get their boats on the water!
Switzerland at Avizaqcua
After the lightweights from Oxford and the Charter House School, it was the turn of the Switzerland National Rowing Team to try out the new Avizaqcua centre and Hotel. Avis was no exception to the bad weather that affected all of Europe, so the camp started with rain and wind. Despite the conditions, the Swiss didn’t miss a water sessions, and their perseverance was soon rewarded with flat water and sunshine coming back halfway during the week.
The Big day
The big day has arrived. On Tuesday, 6th January, AVIZAQCUA receives its first official guests. A team from Oxford Lightweights and a team from Carter House School will the pioneers of the rowing centre. It is quite fitting that teams from the country that pioneered the sport are the first ones to try out the fully functional centre.
In our way...
In the run up to the grand opening of the hotel, Avizaqua still managed to welcome the Swedish canoeing team, the first international canoeing team ever to train in Avis. Also, two illustrious guests, Emma Twigg and Juliette Haigh

In their first year in Aviz the Dutch Heavyweight team is training for golden day in Beijing. During their busy training with had the opportunity to have a chat with Mark Emke, one of the more experienced dutch coaches.
Spring in AVIZ
Spring is blossoming everywhere in Avis and the water is as still has ever. But the stillness of the water is being shattered regularly as the crews training in Avizaqcua Training Centre up the tempo of their Olympics and Worlds preparations.
